Your Role and your Team:

We are looking for an outstanding Space Systems Engineer to join our team and to contribute to the architecture and design of our responsive satellite platforms from day one. As part of a mixed team of electrical, embedded and software engineers, you will actively contribute to the definition of the architecture of the platform and of its key subsystems. You will provide guidance to colleagues without a space technology background and ensure that our products meet the requirements of our most demanding customers.


Whether you are working on the top level platform architecture, on the detailed definition of its key subsystems or on their evaluation and testing, you’ll have the chance to play a fundamental role in supporting a full product lifecycle, from conceptual design and requirement definition to production transition. At the end of your first year at REFLEX, fully working prototypes of most vital subsystems will be finalized.


Your Day to Day:

  • You collaborate among a multi-disciplinary engineering team to design and test satellite systems, subsystems, and components

  • You play an active role and contribute to the definition of the architecture of the platform based on top level (customer) requirements

  • You act as a satellite systems engineer across multiple subsystems but with an emphasis on the avionics and onboard data handling unit 

  • You establish and document system and subsystem level architecture with states and modes diagrams, functional block diagrams, interconnect diagrams and physical block diagrams

  • You create and maintain system and subsystem interface control documents

  • You develop verification plans at all levels of assembly with primary focus on efficiency and automatization

  • Together with the team, you develop automated tests to verify the functionality of the subsystems

  • You work hands on with the prototype hardware in the lab, using common electrical equipment

  • You act as a solid base of space technology knowledge on which your colleagues can rely

  • You work closely with external suppliers and customers to manage requirements, interfaces, and data exchange

  • Relevant professional experience 

  • Experience with several of the following: CONOPS development, spacecraft functional analyses, requirements decomposition and definition, modeling and simulation, trade studies, risk management, reliability engineering, orbital mechanics, launch and space environments, fault tolerant systems, spacecraft assembly and test, and technical budget management

  • Experience with scheduling and tasking tools (e.g. Jira) is a plus

  • Familiarity with using RF and Electrical Test Equipment (e.g. oscilloscope, power meter, spectrum analyzer, signal generator, VNA, noise sources, etc) is a plus

  • Proficiency with modeling tools and scripting languages such as Matlab/Simulink, Python, or STK is a plus


  • Fluent English language skills are essential, Fluent German or any other language would be beneficial

  • Willing to relocate to Berlin
